With Van Gogh’s Sunflower as a starting point for inspiration, this short film is a peek into the life of a man who was born a sunflower.

Process/Notes: This work was made out of a cast of my face, and filmed partly on green screen since walking through the hague with a mask of flowers on your head leads to a lot of questions. Aside from having to do some shoots separately, and walking around with a mask through the city, I didn’t reach a lot of hardships. Initially I had scored the project with a cover of Radiohead’s “Creep” which as placeholder, brought too much humor to the piece. Its a bit satirical, a bit absurd and very touching. The film was also accompanied by a sculpture made of chicken wire and stuffing, dressed in the clothes, vase and sunflowers worn by the subject in the film. Sunflower seeds were strewn on the ground below.
