inspired by the book “Cupido en Sideron” Twee Moren aan het hof van Oranje
by Esther Schreuder telling the story of two “gifts” given to king Willem V. These gifts were two boys, one from Africa and the other Carribean born. 
My work looks underneath the turban the boys were forced to wear to highlight their ethnic differences and into a history of minstrel shows and black people being used as entertainment.
